The Founding Story

Born From a Father's Worst Morning.

There was a moment I will never forget. My son Akim was ready for school — backpack on, uniform pressed. And I had to tell him he couldn't go because I had fallen behind on his school balance and the school could no longer let him attend.

"As a father, that broke something in me. Not because I wasn't trying. I was. But life had gotten tight, and suddenly my son's education was at the mercy of a number on a ledger."

I spent days working to fix it. And eventually, I did. Akim went back to school. But I couldn't stop thinking about the fathers who couldn't fix it. The children still sitting at home, ready to learn, with nowhere to go.

That question became FatherLeader Foundation. We exist for one reason: to make sure no child loses their place in school because their family hit a rough month.

Why It Matters

Haiti Has the Lowest School Completion Rate in the Western Hemisphere.

80% of Haitian children attend private schools. When families fall behind on fees — even by a few thousand gourdes — children are sent home. Days become weeks. Weeks become months. Some never return.

FatherLeader Foundation targets the specific, solvable gap between temporary family hardship and permanent educational exclusion.

  • Every payment goes directly to the school — never cash to families
  • Every case is independently verified before any payment is approved
  • Every dollar received and spent is publicly reported quarterly
  • Every assisted child receives a 60-day follow-up call to confirm continued enrollment

The Founder

Built by a Haitian Father, for Haitian Families.

Pete Philentrope is an entrepreneur, AI professional, and community builder based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He is the founder of HaitiCard — a digital wallet platform for Haiti — and the creator of the FatherLeader personal brand, which serves fathers across the Haitian diaspora and beyond.

FatherLeader Foundation is not a project Pete manages from a distance. He lives and works in Haiti. His son Akim attends Kigabelo — one of the three pilot schools. The problem the Foundation solves is one he experienced personally.

"I didn't start this Foundation because I had resources to spare. I started it because I knew the feeling of watching your child sit home when he should be in class — and I decided no other parent should carry that alone."
